Kim J Hanson is currently working under the Choice Supports, LLC contract. She has had the opportunity to live in several beautiful places, Maryville Tennessee, California, and Alaska. She moved back to Utah, which she now calls home. She has a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has been in the helping professions for nearly 20 years. She has worked in a Community mental health setting, In Knoxville Tennessee, as a Therapist, Home Health Care, and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for individuals in an Alzheimer's unit. In Utah she worked in a Community Treatment Unit in Layton, where she provided therapy for people who were experiencing mental health issues.
She began working with individuals with disabilities in 2003, in a sheltered workshop, as a Case Manager, and then as Director of Social Services at an intermediate Care facility in Ogden. She then, worked for the State of Utah as a Support Coordinator QMRP. She had a caseload of 30 individuals that she provided services for 3 years, and then moved into the private sector as a Support Coordinator External, where she continues to provide support for resources such as ”housing, respite, supported Living, employment, Day programs, along with securing the necessary financial resources through the Division of Services of People with Disabilities.
She raised her two children primarily in South Ogden, which she now calls home. In her leisure time she enjoys hiking, skiing, camping, gardening, Farmers Markets, bookstores, listening to music,and traveling with her family, and her children.
She believes that taking a holistic approach, and working directly with the individual, family, employers, individuals, and support staff, to meet the unique, and individual needs of people with disabilities. She connects individuals with the necessary resources to succeed at home, as well as in the community, and to enable them to live in the least restrictive environment, be as independent as possible, and have a quality of life that is meaningful to them.
